Bouncy Bouncy

Today we went to a play date at a local bounce place.  Last time we went to a place like this, Conner was less than thrilled.  BUT - that was probably about 2 years ago, and today was a completely different story.  Both boys had A BLAST.  Everyone burned off tons of energy (me included!) and enjoyed everything this place had to offer.  There was a giant slide, basketball "courts," and baseball "fields."  When asked at dinner, Conner said his favorite part was the popsicle course - took me a few minutes to figure out he meant obstacle course :)

I didn't get many good pictures because we were too busy have fun (aka chasing children!), but here are a few...

Just Words

No pictures today, folks....sorry to disappoint you!  But, I wanted to give a quick update on the boys.

Conner has decided what he will be when he grows up....drum roll please..... "a choo choo driver and a daddy" and one day he added on a race car driver too.  He already has his wife picked out too, but I'll let that remain a mystery for now :) Andy and I think he may choose to be something more like an engineer but you never know!

Almost every night lately (for the past week or so) Scott pee pees in the potty before bath!  It's very exciting, but I know we're still a pretty far way from abandoning diapers.  Last night he sat on the potty, let a few drops out, then proceeded to sit in the bathtub and go the rest of the way.  Needless to say the bath was drained and refilled after that!
I'll also share some of my favorite things Scott is saying these days (well, besides "Oh man!" which I do think is pretty cute!)
  • While closing his eyes really tightly, "Find me!"
  • "I did it, Mommy!" or "I got it, Mommy!"
  • "Look, Mommy" (sounds more like, "Wook Mommy!"
  • "Yummy, yummy, tummy!" (translation - "Yummy in my tummy!")
  • "Dinosaurs/Shark/Lion coming!"
And we're definitely getting a preview of the boys' personalities.  Scott is definitely our more...ahem...strong-willed child.  I could always talk Conner down from things, but not Scott!  He is determined!  He sometimes insists on peeling his own banana...Conner still never asks to peel his banana.  I also have recently had to wrestle him into his carseat - why? - because he wants to drive the car.  "Me drive, me drive!"  Really, Scott?  Never thought I'd have to talk a not-even-2-year-old out of driving my car!

But seriously, both boys bring us more joy (most of the time) than we could imagine.  They amaze us and make us laugh every day.  I can't wait to see what else they come up with!

Easter Festivities

Let me just start off by warning you that this post is LONG.  If you don't have a couple minutes, close the window and come back later :)  Holidays in our family do not last a day.  No, they last at least a couple days, and usually even longer than that!  Easter this year was 3 days long.  Yes, that's right.  I'll take you through the timeline...

We started on Friday with some Easter egg dying.  Dinosaur eggs to be exact.  The boys had a great time, and I think they turned out really cute!

The next morning, we woke up to find our Easter bunny had come! (He comes a day early for us because we're not home on Easter morning)

That sneaky bunny had some pretty good hiding places!

"Candy before breakfast?!  Are you serious?"
(Scott calls Peeps "mashmows")
Saturday afternoon we headed to MamMam and Paw's house.  We went straight to the park and beach to enjoy the gorgeous weather (which finally decided to grace us with its presence and even stuck around for the rest of the weekend!)

We enjoyed dinner and family time Saturday night, and woke up bright and early for the sunrise service at the beach.  It was a perfect morning with a gorgeous sunrise, a big cruise ship going by, and no winter coats needed!
Then, we all headed back to the house for an egg and basket hunt.  All the cousins had a great time as always! (Have I mentioned there are 7 cousins, ages 7 and under? - talk about fun!)

After that, we came home and took some rests before getting dressed in our Easter clothes and heading to Nana and Pop's house for dinner.

Like how Scott's tongue matches his shirt?  Definitely planned ;)
Or just thanks to one of the MANY pieces of candy they had this weekend!

We started off with an egg hunt just like my grandmother used to have for us.  All the grandkids get a different color egg, and all the eggs have a little money in them.

Even Liam had some eggs!
Finally, we found the last of three Easter baskets.  They were chock full of goodies.

Dinner was so good, and we were so lucky to have a big part of our family with us.  Conner and Scott got spoiled by a couple more Easter bunnies, ate some more sweets, and had a blast with aunts, uncles, cousins, great-aunts and uncles, and grandparents.
This was truly a wonderful Easter, but phew!  I think I'm still recovering, and I KNOW the boys are!

The Farm

The boys and I just got back from a quick trip to "the farm" with Nana & Pop, and Aunt Jenn, Uncle Bill, and Liam.  Unfortunately Daddy had to work so he couldn't join us this time :(  But we made the best of our short stay and really enjoyed ourselves.  I even took the boys for a ride on the gator all by myself -- we won't talk about Conner asking me to go get Pop before I even started the thing.  I think I was making him a little nervous.  But I did it!  I think it's safe to say that both boys' favorite part was the gator rides.

And Pop's still the expert driver!

Doin' some front porch sittin' with Nana

Scott loved the little tractor on the front porch

Bike Ride

Today we took our first real bike ride through the neighborhood.  Before today, we only braved our driveway and maybe a little into the road to turn around.  Conner was a champ, though, and I was so proud of how he bravely went down the hills and tried his hardest to pedal up them (we live in a pretty hilly neighborhood!).  He even said going down the hills was fun, and looked forward to the next big hill.  Now, I, on the other hand, was walking behind him pushing Scott continuously telling Conner to slow down.  I didn't want him to fall and ruin this new adventure streak in him!

Phew, it gets hot pedaling that far! Drink break!

And I just have to share that Scott now says, "Oh, man!"  Actually, it sounds more like, "Ah, min!"  So all day I hear it after he drops something or something doesn't go quite right.  Well, there are worse things he could choose to say, huh?!

An Exciting Day

We spent most of the day today with MamMam.  She took us to a really fun children's museum.  The boys loved it, and we can't wait to go back again when we'll have more time to play.  It was cheap, FULL of fun stuff to do, and there was a playground with picnic tables outside!

Scott liked driving the real boat

Conner enjoyed the tiny boat :)

Turtles!

On the way home, I decided since it was a summer-like day I'd be really fun and spontaneous and take the boys to get ice cream (yeah I can be that way sometimes!!)  They enjoyed  that side of me :)

Once Conner got over the wind (he's a little nervous about things blowing away on windy days lately),
he really enjoyed his cone.

I was loving this face Scott made every time he took a bite.  He CLEANED his bowl :)
Unfortunately, the day ended on a less fun note as Conner got sick.  Let's hope it's a short-lived sickness and he's feeling better in the morning.  I also hope he'll still eat strawberries after tonight, as he said when he was feeling sick, "Why did I have to eat so many strawberries?"  Poor baby :(

Egg Hunt!

Today we went to our first Easter Egg Hunt of the season (yes, there will be more!) at Leyna and Cora's house.  It was tons of fun, and I'll let the pictures do the talking :)

Aunt Jami is so creative and artistic!!

Scott was very into egg hunting.  He was on a mission, and filled his basket quickly!

Conner was also a good hunter, but there was more competition in the older kid group!

The golden egg prize: a giant chocolate bunny!

After the hunting, Conner and Reed had fun jumping in puddles.  They were SOAKED!!

Scott didn't think it was so much fun.  He also didn't have a nap today, so it didn't take much to set him off!

It was a great day, and we're already looking forward to our next egg hunt :)
